Jay Davidson

Progress midfielder Jay Davidson will be a difficult player to replace, with his technical skills, relentless fight and brutish tactics.

Down Goes Davidson!?!?

Work in Progress FC midfielder Jay Davidson has been placed on the injured reserve list with his return date, TBD.  Davidson, who shared Man of the Match honors in WiP’s most recent victory over Sea-Town United is suffering from a fractured rib, an injury he acquired on the evening of 2/8/2010.  Just one day after his heroic 1 goal/1 assist effort for the Progress, Davidson was lounging in his banana-hammock contemplating the simple things in life.  Joined by long term girlfriend and WiP supporter Margi Bhatt, Davidson was enjoying a carefree afternoon when things took a turn for the worse.

Davidson’s hammock was precariously dangling 12-15 feet above ground, fastened to a large beam in the back of his Wallingford home.  Little did he know, the hammock was not secure for long.  The structural integrity of the beam was far less superior than he had presumed; in fact its purpose was completely ornamental.  With a loud “Snap!” one side of the hammock gave way, and the couple began to plummet towards the earth.  Davidson instinctively grabbed hold of Bhatt and vigorously gripped the hammock, swinging through the air like Tarzan and Jane.  Unfortunately, his efforts were short lived as the other attached side quickly gave way.

As gravity took its toll, Davidson squirmed through the air to position himself for the impact.  Bhatt followed closely behind, fearing for the worst.  The couple slammed into the ground with a thud, landing on an assortment of items including pipes and flower pots.  Davidson landed on his side, shattering one of his ribs on a pipe, but providing a cushion for Bhatt’s landing.  Bhatt’s head slammed into the debris, concussing the avid WiP fan.  After a lengthy ordeal at the UW hospital, the two members of the WiP community have returned home to nurse their wounds.  Worldwide, WiP fans are shocked and devastated by the temporary loss of an integral player, but thankful for his overall health and well-being.  Updates on Davidson’s condition will be reported as they develop.
